ADHD United was created following from an ADHD Parenting Course held in Leigh-on-Sea and the acknowledgement of a lack of support for parents of children with ADHD in and around the Southend-on-Sea area.
All of the committe members for ADHD United have a child with ADHD, ADD, ODD and other related conditions. The meetings allow us to let off steam and look for new avenues to explore in parenting our children, as much as welcoming new members to do the same!
We have all experienced the difficulties of diagnosis and behaviour management and have found we all have different strengths and knowledge when it comes to this. We have tried many different methods between us and it is always good to hear another opinion and experience of a similar situation. From sharing ideas we have found new strategies to try.
We have attended courses, lectures, conferences, read many books and articles on ADHD/ADD, talked to medical and teaching professionals, and each other.
Our aim is to improve the education, personal and social opportunites for our children and by the same note, improve our family lives. By meeting, discussing options and alternatives, listening to others experiences and coming up with ideas that may help ourselves, each other and our children we aim to improve the future of those involved.
We are all in difficult and different situations, but together we hope to improve our's and our children’s future.
